A 45-year-old Florida man faces multiple charges after allegedly threatening to murder his girlfriend and physically assaulting her in front of her 10-year-old son, according to court documents from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
William Adam Lamkin was arrested Tuesday in Tamarac and charged with domestic assault, domestic battery, and resisting an officer with violence.
Deputies responded around 7:30 p.m. to a home on Red Heart Lane after the child’s father called 911. The father said his son had fled the house in fear and called him from outside a neighbor’s residence. The 10-year-old told deputies an argument broke out after his mother brought home alcohol.
“The child stated that his mother told him William had grabbed her by the shirt and said he was going to murder her,” deputies wrote in a probable cause affidavit. “The child advised that he became frightened, ran out of the residence, and called his father.”
The mother told investigators that Lamkin confronted her at her car after she returned from a nearby Publix. He allegedly pushed her into the driver’s seat and punched her in the arm.
“I am going to ask you this question one time and one time only, and every time you give me that b— answer, I will punch you again,” Lamkin allegedly said.
Neighbors tried to intervene, but Lamkin grew agitated and tried to instigate a fight with them, records state. The child then ran to a community pool where his father picked him up. The mother confirmed the physical assault and threat to deputies, asking them to stay because she feared for her life.
“He will kill me, he’s a psycho,” she told officers.
When Lamkin returned to the scene, he refused to cooperate, telling deputies, “I didn’t do anything wrong so go about your business.” Deputies reported that he took a fighting stance and ignored commands, forcing them to use physical force to detain him.
After a medical evaluation at a hospital, Lamkin was booked into the Broward County Jail. His bond was set at $32,500.
