A Florida City man with an extensive criminal history was arrested on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after allegedly stealing a taxi cab in Marathon and leading police to a stop in Islamorada.
Misael Asaria Bocio, 43, of Florida City, was taken into custody and charged with grand theft auto and driving with a suspended license (third or subsequent offense).
The incident began at approximately 11:15 a.m. when the taxi was reported stolen from the 5500 block of the Overseas Highway in Marathon. According to reports, the keys had been left inside the vehicle, and the doors were unlocked.
The stolen taxi was quickly spotted shortly thereafter, being driven erratically further north in Islamorada. Authorities identified Bocio as the driver and stopped the vehicle, recovering the stolen cab.
Bocio is considered a habitual offender, having only recently been released from prison. His prior convictions include serious offenses such as robbery with a firearm, false imprisonment, and burglary with assault on an occupant.
Following his arrest, Bocio was transported to the Monroe County Jail.
