A 47-year-old Florida man has been arrested on attempted murder and aggravated child abuse charges after deputies say he stabbed two children while they slept Wednesday night.
Trevor Hooper Kilian, 47, was arrested following the incident in the Ibis Cove community off Immokalee Road in Naples.
Sheriff Kevin Rambosk praised deputies for their fast response.
“Deputies quickly responded, entered the home, and pulled the injured children out to the ambulance that was waiting,” Sheriff Rambosk said. “They located the suspect, who was also injured, and secured the scene.”
Deputies located Kilian on the floor of the master bedroom with what appeared to be severe self-inflicted lacerations on both of his arms, according to his arrest report. Deputies also located a knife in the room which was believed to have been used in the attack.
Kilian and the two children were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries.

A woman in the home told deputies that Kilian had been using synthetic cannabis for a while but had stopped using the drugs approximately two weeks ago. Since then he began acting abnormally, would have manic episodes and wasn’t eating or sleeping. She denied he’d ever been violent or harmed her or the victims prior to last night.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, synthetic cannabis, also known as synthetic cannabinoids, are manmade mind-altering chemicals that are either sprayed on dried, shredded plant material so they can be smoked or sold as liquids to be vaporized and inhaled in e-cigarettes and other devices. These products are also known as herbal or liquid incense and go by names such as K2 or Spice.
She told deputies that prior to the incident Kilian had been acting normally and everything seemed fine. They went to bed at 9 p.m. Kilian got up around 10 p.m. and left the bedroom. Minutes later she heard the children screaming. She rushed toward the children’s bedroom and saw Killian standing in the hall with a knife.
“I stabbed them, I stabbed them. What have I done,” he told her, according to the arrest report.
She said she barricaded herself in the room with the children until deputies arrived, reports said.
Reports said one child had been stabbed in the back and the other child had been stabbed in the chest. Both children had collapsed lungs. Deputies said it appeared they had been stabbed while asleep in their beds.

Kilian is charged with two counts of attempted felony murder and two counts of aggravated child abuse. Detectives arrested him at the hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. His arrest photo will be released once he is booked into the Collier County jail.
