MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old North Lauderdale man was arrested on Tuesday following a six-month joint investigation into a phone scam that defrauded a Marathon resident out of $4,600.
Javon D’Wayne Sirenord faces multiple charges, including a scheme to defraud, unlawful use of a two-way communications device, fleeing and eluding, and violating probation.
The investigation began in December 2025 when the victim reported the incident to authorities. According to investigators from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, a caller contacted the victim while posing as a bank official.
The caller told the resident that their bank accounts were compromised and instructed them to place cash inside a nearby rideshare vehicle. The victim followed the instructions but realized it was a scam after the vehicle left.
Detectives tracked Sirenord and gathered evidence using phone records and other investigative techniques over the subsequent months. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office took Sirenord into custody on July 14, 2026. He will be transferred to Monroe County to face the fraud charges.
Law enforcement records show Sirenord has a prior arrest history in Broward County, which includes multiple counts of grand theft and burglary.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stated that the case remains under active investigation, and additional charges or arrests may be pending as the inquiry continues.
