A Florida man is facing multiple criminal charges after a series of alleged domestic disputes ended with him dumping a backpack filled with human waste, ketchup, and hot sauce onto his ex-girlfriend.
Daniel Niemiec, 20, of Coral Springs, was arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence strangulation and two counts of domestic violence battery. The charges stem from multiple incidents at his apartment, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The victim told police that the initial incident occurred on June 2. According to the affidavit, the woman stated that during a consensual sexual encounter, Niemiec began slapping her across the face and refused to stop even after she begged him to do so.
Weeks later, around 1 a.m. on June 30, a second altercation occurred. The victim reported that during an argument, Niemiec began strangling her. The affidavit alleges that he laughed while choking her, leaving her gasping for air before finally releasing his grip. Following this incident, the woman left the apartment to stay with a friend in nearby Margate, Florida.
The woman returned to the Coral Springs apartment complex the next day to retrieve her personal items, where she encountered Niemiec in the parking lot holding her backpack. The affidavit states that Niemiec had urinated and defecated inside the bag, mixed in ketchup, hot sauce, and other fluids, and then poured the contents directly onto the victim.
During police questioning, Niemiec allegedly confessed to the actions detailed in the affidavit. Regarding the first incident, he told investigators he slapped the woman because he was “testing something new” and it had “gotten out of hand.”
Addressing the second encounter, he allegedly admitted to choking the victim, stating he “has anger issues and sometimes cannot control it.”
When questioned about the final incident, Niemiec told police he relieved himself in the backpack because he believed it would be “payback for her cheating.” However, he claimed he merely threw the bag itself and “could not recall where the items landed.”
Court records indicate that Niemiec has been released from jail after posting a $4,000 bond. His release is subject to a mandatory no-contact order and electronic GPS monitoring.
