The Florida Lottery has announced that a Wellington resident is now significantly wealthier after claiming a top prize from the popular $5,000 A WEEK FOR LIFE Scratch-Off game.

Shuangjie Fan, 31, of Wellington, claimed the life-changing prize on July 2nd at the Lottery’s West Palm Beach District Office. Instead of receiving $5,000 a week for life, Fan chose to take his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $3,897,000.00.

Fan purchased his lucky $10 ticket from Wellington Marathon, located at 2741 S. State Road 7 in Wellington.

The $5,000 A WEEK FOR LIFE Scratch-Off game offers players the chance to win one of four top prizes of $5,000 a week for life, boasting over $158 million in total cash prizes. The game’s overall odds of winning are 1 in 3.30.

Beyond creating new millionaires, the Florida Lottery plays a significant role in the state’s education system. Since its inception, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $49 billion to enhance education and has funded the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, sending over a million students to college.

The Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its revenue back into Florida’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,550 retailers, and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid over $103.2 billion in prizes and created more than 4,430 millionaires.
