Florida Man Faces Death After Caging, Torture Charges In Brutal Murder Of 3-Year-Old

A grand jury in Florida has formally indicted a 32-year-old Citra man on charges ranging from first-degree murder to the torture of multiple children.

State Attorney Bill Gladson of the Fifth Judicial Circuit announced the indictment of Jeroen Jarrel Coombs on Friday, following a review of evidence connected to the death of 3-year-old Paisley Brown and the alleged abuse of four other children.

The indictment outlines a series of violent events and neglect spanning several months.

According to court records, the grand jury returned a “true bill” for first-degree felony murder, three counts of aggravated child abuse, and one count of child abuse.

Investigators allege that the murder occurred on or about February 19, 2026, while Coombs was in the ‘process’ of committing a separate felony.

The charges further detail a pattern of behavior beginning in late 2025. Between October 1, 2025, and the day of Paisley’s death, prosecutors say Coombs “did unlawfully and willfully commit two or more acts of torture upon a child, which caused unnecessary and unjustified pain to and suffering by said child.”

Additionally, the indictment specifies an incident on October 1, 2025, in which Coombs is accused of caging a child and knowingly abusing them, though that specific act was noted as not causing great bodily harm.

Coombs is currently being held without bond at the Marion County detention facility.

Under Florida’s legal statutes, the State Attorney’s Office now has a 45-day window to decide whether they will file a Notice of Intent to Seek the Death Penalty in this case.
