A 35-year-old Leesburg man faces multiple felony charges following a physical confrontation with his neighbor over uncollected dog waste, according to police records.
Trey Decloedt was arrested on Aug. 8 after officers responded to a disturbance call at a nearby residence the previous day. According to a probable cause affidavit, the victims, a married couple, reported an ongoing dispute with Decloedt regarding animal waste left on their respective driveways.
The husband told investigators that the situation escalated on Aug. 7 when Decloedt entered their home without permission while visibly angry and holding dog feces. The affidavit states that Decloedt began yelling before he intentionally threw the feces at the husband, hitting him.
The resident told police he pushed Decloedt outside toward the carport, where a physical altercation began. Decloedt allegedly struck the man in the face, picked up a child’s metal scooter, and raised it overhead while making verbal threats.
Responding officers noted a red mark on the neighbor’s forehead and observed animal feces on the exterior of the residence.
In body camera footage, Decloedt told officers that he had previously asked the neighbor’s wife to clean up after their dog. He stated that after four hours had passed without the waste being removed, he moved it to the edge of the driveway.
Decloedt claimed the neighbor messaged him to discuss the matter, but shoved him in the doorway upon his arrival, leading to the fight.
Police stated Decloedt initially refused to allow officers inside his home to photograph his injuries and declined commands to step outside.
Following his arrest, Decloedt told investigators that he and the neighbor were former friends who had an agreement permitting each other to enter their homes without knocking. However, the neighbor provided officers with a video showing he had previously instructed Decloedt to stay off the property regarding the dispute.
Decloedt is charged with burglary with assault or battery, aggravated battery, and simple battery. He was released after posting a $16,000 bond on Aug. 9 and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 31.
