If convicted, Peavy faces a substantial penalty, with the charge carrying a potential sentence of up to life imprisonment. Federal drug trafficking offenses, particularly involving quantities of methamphetamine like that alleged in this case, often carry severe mandatory minimum sentences under federal law.
The investigation leading to Peavy’s indictment was a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office.

Assistant United States Attorneys James A. McCain and Adam Hapner will prosecute the case.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has committed a violation of federal criminal law.
It is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial, during which the government bears the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
