A 32-year-old Florida man is behind bars after an aggressive attack, choking a deputy while being restrained.
On Thursday, May 12, 2022, Washington County Deputies responded to the report of a suspicious person trespassing on private property near the Blue Lake area.
On arrival, a Washington County Deputy encountered a white male who was acting consistently with someone being under the influence of narcotics.
During questioning, the man’s response led the deputy to conclude that detaining him for medical intervention and hold was appropriate, and he attempted to place restraints on the man.
While attempting to restrain the male, the subject became violent, aggressively attacking the deputy, grabbing the deputy by the throat to choke the deputy.
The deputy was able to break the grip of the subject from his neck and take him to the ground as other deputies arrived on the scene and helped subdue the man.
After medical evaluation and clearance, the man, identified as 32-year-old Michael Anthony Davis of Chipley, continued to resist and fight deputies while restrained.
Davis was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he continued to fight deputies until being placed into a holding cell.
Davis is currently being held at the Washington County Jail with charges for Battery on Law Enforcement/EMT and Resisting an Officer with Violence.
His bond is currently set at $25,000.00.
