At this time, detectives believe the victim was looking for frisbees in the  water and a gator is believed to be involved in the death. The man found on Tuesday, at Taylor Park in Largo has been identified as 47-year-old Sean Thomas McGuinness.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, around 8 AM Largo Police received a call from a bystander walking their dog in Taylor Park in reference to a body found along the shoreline of Taylor Lake.

At this time, detectives believe the victim was looking for frisbees in the water and a gator is believed to be involved in the death.

While the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death, it was apparent that McGuinness suffered injuries related to alligators in the lake.

Detectives believe this occurred in the nighttime hours as McGuinness did not appear to have been in the lake for a long period of time before he was discovered the morning of May 31, 2022.

According to Park Management, McGuinness was known to frequent the park and enter the lake with disregard to the posted “No Swimming” signs.

A witness also told detectives that McGuinness was known to sell discs back to people within the park as the park is equipped with a disc golf course and McGuinness was found within a few feet of a disc in the water.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was called, and gator trappers responded to Taylor Lake on May 31, 2022.
