A Florida man convicted of homicide has been sentenced to life in prison.
Jimmy Lamar Ford Jr. was convicted of second-degree homicide and firing a weapon in public in connection with the May 9, 2020, murder of 29-year-old Alexander Antonio Nowell.
The murder happened at a bar called The Joint, located at 941 S. Delaney Ave. in Avon Park.

Two other men were wounded in the shooting, which stemmed from an earlier argument.
“Great work by Det. Du’Wayne Kelly and the rest of the Criminal Investigations Unit, as well as the District 10 office of the State’s Attorney in securing this conviction,” said Highlands County Sheriff’s Office.
