Florida Man Shot In Road Road Incident, Troopers Looking For Suspect SUV

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are seeking the public’s help in a case of road rage that left one man injured after being shot while driving.

According to FHP, on Monday, March 7, 2022, just after 9:00 PM, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a shooting incident along the southbound lanes of I-275 on the Howard Frankland Bridge.

The victim, identified as Tyeson Jordan, had driven himself to the Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Emergency Road and was later transferred to the Trauma Center at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was met by FHP Troopers and local law enforcement.

The passenger in Jordan’s vehicle, Jacqueline Slaughter, told FHP investigators that Jordan was driving his 2016 Dodge Charger southbound on the Howard Frankland Bridge and while approaching a slower moving vehicle in the left lane he flashed his lights and activated his vehicle horn.

Slaughter described the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV, with side window tint only.

According to troopers, Jordan began to pass the vehicle on the right and then merged back into the left lane in front of the suspect vehicle.

Jordan then “brake checked” the suspect vehicle before attempting to pull away, but the SUV began to follow the victim’s every move.  The suspect vehicle completed several lane changes across the bridge, shadowing Jordan as he attempted to separate and create distance.

While still continuing southbound in the center lane of the bridge, Slaughter heard a “popping” noise and suddenly felt glass strike her before noticing facial injuries suffered by Jordan who had been shot.

While continuing to drive, Jordan instructed Slaughter to photograph or record the suspect vehicle with her phone which she was unable to do as the lock screen was covered in blood.

Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle continued southbound and finally separated as Slaughter helped Jordan remain calm.  She guided him to an interstate exit and eventually the emergency room where Jordan was treated and listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call *FHP or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
