TAMPA, Fla. – A 58-year-old Kenneth City man claimed a $2 million top prize after purchasing a winning scratch-off ticket at a local convenience store, the Florida Lottery announced.
Charles Cuozzo claimed his prize from the “SCORCHING HOT 7s” scratch-off game on May 1 at the Lottery’s Tampa District Office. State lottery officials confirmed that Cuozzo elected to receive his winnings as a single, lump-sum payment of $1,172,000.00.
Cuozzo bought the $10 ticket at Golden Food, located at 6774 46th Avenue North in Saint Petersburg.
The $10 SCORCHING HOT 7s game features four top prizes of $2 million, alongside overall game odds of winning any prize at 1-in-3.39.
Under Chapter 24 of the Florida Statutes, the names and cities of residence for all lottery winners are public record and subject to release after 90 days.
According to the agency, the Florida Lottery has generated more than $51 billion for state education programs and funded Bright Futures Scholarships for over one million students since its inception in 1988. Over that same span, the lottery has awarded more than $110 billion in total prizes and produced over 4,900 millionaires.
