A trip to a Florida Walmart just changed a local man’s life forever. The Florida Lottery confirmed this week that 68-year-old Lincoln Diaz of Miami claimed a massive $25 million top prize from the $25,000,000 GOLD RUSH MULTIPLIER scratch-off game.
Diaz made the trek to Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee on January 12 to collect his windfall. Instead of taking the full amount over time, he opted for a single, lump-sum payment of $15,960,000.00. The winning ticket was sold at the Walmart located at 14720 S.W. 26th Street in Miami.
The $50 game that Diaz played is one of the Lottery’s most ambitious offerings, featuring a pair of $25 million top prizes and 60 different $1 million prizes. With over $1.2 billion in total cash up for grabs, the game carries overall winning odds of 1-in-4.09.

Scratch-offs like the one Diaz played are the heavy hitters of the Florida Lottery’s lineup. They accounted for roughly 74 percent of all ticket sales during the 2024-2025 fiscal year. Since these games first launched, they have handed out more than $70.8 billion in prizes and produced 2,475 millionaires.
Beyond the individual winners, the games serve as a major engine for the state. To date, scratch-off sales have funneled more than $20.98 billion into Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
Overall, the Florida Lottery has generated more than $50 billion for education, supporting over one million students through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program since 1988.
