Police in multiple states are searching for 58-year-old Gary Richard Hurwitz after the long-time fraudster duped would-be investors out of a ton of cash.

According to investigators, on September 2, 2021, Hurwitz, while concealing his true identity, encouraged a victim to engage in an investment opportunity by giving him money.

Over the next few weeks, additional funds were requested and provided to the Hurwitz totaling over $83,000.

Hurwitz promised to at least double the victim’s money from the investment. Hurwitz told the investor that the funds were being used to purchase equipment from a liquidating solar company called “Algonquin”.

Shortly after, the victim requested their money back after not receiving documentation for the investment, which the suspect failed to do. As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained.
