Florida Man Who Hit Taxi Driver In The Head With Hammer, Charged While In Jail

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – St. Petersburg Police charged Drajan N. Polite, 22, with three separate violent robberies of cab drivers that occurred in September and October.

In two of the cases, Polite used a hammer to strike the cab drivers in the head in order to rob them. His most recent booking photo is attached.

  • September 6, at 1:15 a.m., at 1963 16th Avenue South, Polite robbed a cab driver and struck him in the head with a hammer, injuring him before robbing him.
  • September 19, at 2:50 a.m., at 2588 11th Avenue South, Polite robbed a cab driver (the driver didn’t suffer injuries).
  • October 3, at 3:12 a.m., at 3400 21st Avenue South, Polite robbed a cab driver and struck him in the face with the hammer causing injuries and knocking out teeth. (report 2021-036891)

Polite was already in jail on unrelated charges.

He now faces additional charges for aggravated battery, robbery with a weapon, strong-armed robbery, and numerous violations of probation and failure to appear charges.
