A 35-year-old Florida man who raped a teenage co-worker has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
On August 24, 2020, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a sex crime involving a teenage victim.
The suspect, Kyndall Tyree Hutchins, 35, raped his co-worker. Hutchins followed the victim from the restaurant they worked at and sexually attacked her in a nearby employee parking lot as she was walking to her car.
“This suspect committed a heinous crime and tried to flee, but was eventually caught thanks to a tip from Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “I will not tolerate anything but law and order in Lee County. I’m grateful for yet another successful prosecution from our State Attorney’s Office.”
Hutchins fled to Rhode Island following the crime and was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police before being extradited to Lee County. A tip from Crime Stoppers led to his apprehension.
Hutchins was found guilty in May 2022 following a trial in Lee County.
On July 6, 2022, Hutchins was sentenced to 30 years in prison as a Habitual Felony Offender, for one count of Unlawful Sexual Activity.
