According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, upon arrival, deputies determined that Scarborough had pointed a shotgun at a nearby residence. He then allegedly aimed a 1911-style pistol at a neighbor, creating a dangerous and tense situation.
The suspect then reportedly moved to the rear of his residence, where he discharged eight .45 caliber rounds at a fence in the direction of The Verandas, an adjacent neighborhood. Eight spent shell casings were later recovered behind his home.
Fortunately, due to a dense wooded area, no one was injured, and no structures appeared to have been hit, though visible damage was done to the fence.

Authorities emphasized the severe threat Scarborough’s actions posed to public safety, especially given that he resides in a multi-unit townhome community with numerous residents.
Deputies successfully made contact with Scarborough, who voluntarily provided written consent to surrender his firearms. Walton County Animal Services also responded to the scene and took custody of animals belonging to the suspect.
Scarborough has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, eight counts of discharging a firearm, and improper exhibition of a firearm.
