MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 46-year-old man from Sugarloaf Key, Florida, apparently decided that the best way to deal with a botched repair job was to…vanish the evidence entirely.
Matthew Robert Gregory was paid $1,700 to fix a boat’s lower unit, but instead of delivering a working engine, he delivered a series of excuses. When the boat owner finally got fed up, Gregory claimed he’d given the unit to another mystery man – who, conveniently, has no contact information.

The Sheriff’s Office wasn’t buying it, and now Gregory’s facing a grand theft charge. Looks like his plan to fix the problem backfired.
