Yarilis Mendez-Carrillo has been located and is safe, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
ORIGINAL REPORT: Authorities in South Florida are asking for the public’s immediate help in locating 14-year-old Yarilis Mendez-Carrillo. On Monday, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement officially upgraded her case to a Missing Child Alert following an ongoing investigation into her disappearance.
Yarilis was last seen in Homestead, specifically in the area of the 300th block of Southwest 12th Avenue. She is described as a white-Hispanic female, standing 4 feet 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
When she was last spotted, she was wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts. Police noted a specific identifying feature: Yarilis has a large, circular scar located on her upper right thigh.

The Homestead Police Department is leading the search. Officials are urging anyone who may have seen her or who has any information regarding her current location to take action immediately.
“If you have any information on the whereabouts of this child please contact the Homestead Police Department at 305-247-1535 or 911,” the department stated in the alert.
