Florida Mom Arrested After Leaving Infant In Unlocked Car While Gambling For Nearly Two Hours

A Florida woman was arrested after she left her infant daughter in an unlocked car while she gambled for nearly two hours inside a Florida arcade, according to deputies.

According to investigators, Bionca Lockett, 32, was arrested on a felony child neglect charge after deputies were dispatched to the scene of an infant being locked in a car.

The responding deputy said once on the scene, he saw the infant in the back seat of the car, strapped into a car seat. The outside temperature at that time was 82 degrees, according to the deputy.

After about 10 minutes, the child’s mother emerged from the arcade and told deputies that a friend of hers was inside the car watching the infant “while she played in the arcade.”

Once deputies said they would review surveillance footage to confirm her story, Locket then changed her story and told deputies that she was only planning on being inside the adult arcade for 10 minutes.

The arrest affidavit states that the child had “dried poop from poor cleaning, dried skin, lips were chapped, and she appeared to be malnourished.”

Lockett was arrested on two felony charges for leaving the infant alone in a car while she gambled and booked into the Indian River County jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
