A Florida woman is facing an aggravated battery charge after she allegedly stabbed her son with a fork during a heated argument over expenses and the son’s behavior at school.
Leticia Puentes, 39, of Miami, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon following the domestic incident on Thursday morning at their home near Northwest 72nd Street.
According to reports, the quarrel began around 8:15 a.m. and centered on a phone bill and the son’s tardiness. The situation escalated when the son allegedly began throwing objects. As the two reportedly struggled on the floor, Puentes is accused of grabbing a fork and stabbing her son behind the ear, resulting in a “fresh bleeding puncture wound.”
First responders treated the son’s injury at the scene. Puentes admitted to the stabbing but reportedly claimed she acted in self-defense. She was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and is being held on a $3,000 bond.
