Florida Mom Charged With Murder After Poisoning 4-Year-Old Daughter

A Florida mom was charged with murder last week after police say she poisoned her 4-year-old daughter, then tried to kill herself.

On Jan. 10, Osceola County deputies went to Star Island Resort near Kissimmee, Florida, after someone requested a wellness check on Jacinda Decaro, 26, and her 4-year-old daughter Masiela.

Deputies found Masiela unresponsive on the bed, next to her mom Jacinda, with a note on the nearby nightstand that said, “I’m sorry.”

Deputies say that first responders found Jacinda had a faint pulse, and she was transported to a local hospital where medical staff saved her life.

Investigators said Masiela died from a toxic cocktail of Tylenol and Benadry and bottles of both medications were found on the room’s nightstand, local CBS affiliate WKMG reported.

“If she wanted to take her own life, she could have,” Osceola County Sheriff Marcos López told reporters. “She didn’t have to include this 4-year-old baby, who hasn’t even begun to live.”

Jacinda, 26, was escorted out of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Thursday and taken to the Osceola County Jail. She was charged with the murder of her 4-year-old daughter Masiela Decaro and is being held without bond.
