Mary Thomas, the CEO of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, is spearheading a significant effort to mobilize faith voters across the country, focusing acutely on the critical gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey.
A seasoned conservative leader and Florida native, Thomas is expanding the national reach and voter engagement initiatives of the prominent pro-family grassroots organization.
Since stepping into the CEO role, Thomas has been dedicated to activating people of faith in civic life. She brings two decades of leadership experience to the position, including extensive service in both federal and state government, making her a familiar figure in conservative circles.
“I am honored to lead the Faith and Freedom Coalition at this pivotal time for our nation,” said Thomas. “Across Florida and the country, people of faith are yearning to make their voices heard. Together, we will continue advancing policies that strengthen families, defend freedom, and uphold the Biblical values that built this nation.”
The Faith and Freedom Coalition boasts a vast network of more than 3 million members nationwide. Its core mission is to educate, equip, and mobilize citizens of faith to influence public policy and legislation that defends life, strengthens the family, and protects religious liberty.
Thomas’s appointment comes as the organization is actively working to expand its outreach among Black and Latino faith voters, particularly in key battleground states. This focus is evident in the Coalition’s active engagement in the New Jersey gubernatorial race, underscoring the growing national importance of faith-based voters.

In a recent op-ed for the Trentonian, Thomas highlighted the Coalition’s success and focus:
“As the CEO of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, the country’s largest pro-family grassroots organization with a strong presence in the Garden State, I have personally seen a major uptick in Latinos joining our coalition, eager to make their voices heard in the electoral process. Faith and Freedom have been genuinely engaging with the Latino and faith-based communities and their leaders since 2009…”
She further emphasized the organization’s non-partisan approach centered on values:
“We do not focus on the agenda of the Elephant or the Donkey; we focus on what Rev. Samuel Rodriguez from the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, a group we closely partner with, calls the Lamb’s Agenda or Biblical values.”
Thomas’s professional background provides a solid foundation for this expansive role. She previously served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice during the Trump Administration and was a top attorney and advisor to then-Governor (now U.S. Senator) Rick Scott in Florida.
Her resume also includes senior leadership positions at several major conservative organizations, such as the Job Creators Network, America First Legal, the Club for Growth Foundation, and CatholicVote.
A native of Florida, Thomas maintains deep ties to the state, where her parents own a small business in the Tampa Bay area. She is a graduate of the Florida State University School of Law and holds an LLM from the University of Miami. Thomas and her husband, John, and son, Luke, currently reside in Potomac, Maryland.
With critical elections approaching in Virginia and New Jersey, Thomas and the Faith and Freedom Coalition are set on ensuring the voices of their large and growing base of faith voters are heard at the ballot box.
