The Florida Panthers have etched their name into hockey history, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday night to claim their second consecutive championship.

This victory marks the NHL’s first back-to-back winner since the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021, and only the third team to achieve the feat this century.

The night belonged to Sam Reinhart, who delivered a monumental four-goal performance, becoming just the fourth player in league history to score that many in a Stanley Cup Final game.

His third goal, completing the hat trick, brought a deluge of both hats and the Panthers’ iconic plastic rats raining onto the ice, a testament to the fervent home crowd’s jubilation. Fittingly, Matthew Tkachuk, a cornerstone of the franchise, potted the Cup-clinching goal, solidifying the Panthers’ dominance.

On the defensive end, Sergei Bobrovsky was a brick wall, turning aside 28 of 29 shots faced. His stellar play consistently thwarted the Oilers’ offensive efforts, closing the door on any hopes of a comeback and ensuring a repeat of last year’s outcome against the same opponent.

The lone Edmonton goal came from Vasily Podkolzin in what amounted to garbage time, long after the outcome was decided.

As the final seconds ticked away, chants of “We want the Cup!” echoed through the arena, a joyous roar from a fanbase that now knows the sweet taste of repeated victory.
