Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) appeared on “Bolling!” on Real America’s Voice to discuss several hot-button issues, including the recent indictment of New York Attorney General Letitia James for alleged mortgage fraud and the provisions for rural hospital funding in the “Working Families Tax Cut.”

The Florida Congressman focused heavily on the indictment of AG James, drawing a parallel to the political rhetoric often used by Democrats. “One thing I know is, nobody’s above the law.

That’s what the left told us repeatedly over the last couple of years,” Donalds stated. He added, “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones – that’s the first reaction I got.”

Donalds reiterated the allegations against James, specifically her being “accused of doing… lying on mortgage applications.” He contrasted this with James’s own high-profile civil prosecution against President Donald Trump, questioning the fairness and valuation, particularly citing the “stupid” $18 million valuation placed on Mar-a-Lago.

“You can’t defraud on a mortgage application, that’s the facts. Letitia James is accused of doing that. She’ll have her day in court, we’ll see how it goes,” Donalds said.

The conversation also turned to healthcare funding, with Donalds defending the Republican-backed approach to supporting rural hospitals through the “Working Families Tax Cut.” He explained that the legislation addressed what the Government Accountability Office (GAO) estimates to be “about fifty billion dollars every single year of waste and fraud and abuse in the Medicaid system.”

Donalds detailed that the new measures closed loopholes that states had been “abusing to basically game the system” and specifically allocated fifty billion dollars for rural hospitals. He claimed Democrats oppose this direct funding mechanism, instead preferring to “go back to the waste fraud and abuse system in Medicaid as opposed to having direct funding.”

“Democrats want to change that because they want the old system where there were no checks and balances. And states like California, Illinois, New York could just game the system repeatedly,” Donalds asserted, while conceding that further work on the Medicaid system is still necessary.
