Florida Representative Byron Donalds appeared on Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla Tuesday to discuss the upcoming House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing involving Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison.
During the interview, Donalds leveled sharp accusations against the Minnesota officials, claiming they were aware of a massive fraud scheme and actively worked to suppress those who tried to expose it.
The hearing centers on allegations of widespread financial misconduct within Minnesota state programs. Donalds stated that both Walz and Ellison had prior knowledge of the issues but failed to intervene.
According to Donalds, the Walz administration went so far as to intimidate whistleblowers who attempted to bring the theft to light. “If you know people are stealing and then you blame the people who were trying to bring it to light, then you’re culpable,” Donalds told Failla. “You’re part of it.”

The Congressman also linked the timing of the scandal to Governor Walz’s decision not to seek reelection.
He claimed that Walz’s pivot toward “spending time with his family” coincided directly with the emergence of the fraud allegations. Donalds dismissed any potential excuses the Governor might offer during his testimony, suggesting that the administration’s primary goal had been to protect the system rather than the taxpayers.
Furthermore, Donalds highlighted the role of state auditors and employees within the Minnesota system who originally flagged the discrepancies.
He alleged that while state workers and Republican members of the Minnesota assembly pushed for investigations, the administration and legislative Democrats blocked those efforts.
“This Walz administration, they didn’t want to hear it,” Donalds said. “Matter of fact, they protected it.” The Committee is expected to probe how much the administration knew and whether state resources were used to shield the fraud from public view.
