Florida Rep. Cory Mills Touts Trump’s Tough Stance After US Strikes Lead to Iran-Israel Truce, Contrasting With Past Administrations’ Approaches.
Just days after a series of targeted U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, President Donald Trump announced on Monday that a ceasefire had been reached between Iran and Israel. The swift de-escalation of tensions, which some critics feared could ignite a global conflict, is being hailed by supporters as a testament to Trump’s “decisive action” and no-nonsense foreign policy.
Speaking on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Republican Florida Rep. Cory Mills asserted that Iran had learned a “major lesson” about President Trump’s approach to international relations.

“You have a president who has a backbone, who’s been willing to show that if you push him to that level, he will take a decisive action,” Mills told host Laura Ingraham, praising the “warrior ethos” of Trump’s Secretary of Defense.
The ceasefire announcement followed a period of heightened tensions that began with preemptive Israeli strikes on June 12, aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
While Secretary of State Marco Rubio initially stated the U.S. was not involved, Trump’s subsequent revelation of U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites and his willingness to “step in” had raised concerns about broader American involvement.
Mills sharply contrasted Trump’s strategy with those of previous Democrat-led administrations, particularly the Biden administration, which he claimed had allowed Iran to become enriched by waiving sanctions and facilitating access to billions of dollars.

“Iran who thought that we were Obama, who was going to fly in pallets of cash and Swiss francs… thought that we were the Biden administration, who was going to give him $10 billion in fungible assets,” Mills charged, referencing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as a “failed nuclear strategy.”
According to Mills, Trump’s firm stance was a stark departure from previous leniency.
“This president was serious. He has been since before his first administration about Iran not obtaining nuclear weapons,” Mills stated. He concluded that Iran’s “very difficult 12-day lesson” could have been avoided had they come to the negotiation table earlier, as requested by Trump and his vice president.
Despite an Iranian retaliatory strike on Al Udeid U.S. Air Base in Qatar following the initial U.S. actions – an attack Trump revealed he was warned about in advance – the former president reported minimal damage and no U.S. casualties.

The rapid shift from heightened conflict to a ceasefire now leaves many questioning the future of U.S.-Iran relations under a potentially new Trump administration and the lasting impact of this “decisive action.”
