Amid instances of politicians, business owners, and healthcare workers treating those who have opted to not get the COVID-19 vaccine as pariahs, a Florida restaurant owner has announced loud and clear which group she doesn’t want to associate with:
Biden voters.
Last week, after 13 American troops were slaughtered in a Kabul terrorist attack during President Joe Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, Angie Ugarte posted a sign at her restaurant, the DeBary Diner.
“If you voted for and continue to support and stand behind the worthless, inept and corrupt administration currently inhabiting the White House that is complicit in the death of our servicemen and women in Afghanistan, please take your business elsewhere,” the sign read, according to a report by the Fox affiliate in Orlando on Monday.
Ugarte told WOFL that she intends to keep the sign in place so long as Americans are stranded in Afghanistan.
As of Tuesday, the Pentagon confirmed that perhaps as many as 250 Americans remain trapped in Afghanistan, which recently reverted to control of the Taliban after America ended its 20-year presence in the Central Asian nation on Tuesday.
Ugarte told WOFL that many of her customers are military veterans. The report noted that an entire wall of her restaurant is devoted the military photos and memorabilia.
“It was the only thing I felt like I could do,” Ugarte told WOFL. “I was just angry. I was just let down. I felt like one of those mothers, or wives, or sisters who were gonna get that knock on the door.”
“If you really, really still stand behind what’s allowed this to happen and the way it happened, which was unnecessary,” she continued, “then I really don’t want to be associated with you in any way and I certainly don’t want your business.”
