SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. – A 75-year-old Safety Harbor man is behind bars today after a specialized cybercrime unit linked him to the online sharing of child pornography. David Reitmeyer was taken into custody on May 14, 2026, following an intensive investigation by the Cyber Investigations Unit.
The case began when detectives received a tip that illicit files were being accessed and distributed over the internet.
Using digital forensic techniques, investigators traced the activity back to Reitmeyer at his residence on Bear Run Court. Authorities confirmed the materials involved children under the age of eight.
At the time of his arrest, Reitmeyer held the position of Director of Information Technology at Countryside Christian Academy. The school moved quickly to terminate his employment and has been working closely with law enforcement.

While the suspect held a high-level technical role at the academy, detectives noted there is currently no evidence to suggest any illegal conduct occurred on school grounds or involved school equipment.
Reitmeyer was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and faces nine felony counts of possession of child pornography. While the primary suspect is in custody, officials say the investigation remains active as they continue to review digital evidence. Reitmeyer remains held as the legal process moves forward.
