Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) today announced he is leading a group of Republican senators in introducing legislation to designate a street in the nation’s capital as “Charlie Kirk Patriot Way,” in a tribute to the legacy of the late conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA.

Senator Scott, joined by Senators Mike Lee (R-UT), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Bernie Moreno (R-OH), and Josh Hawley (R-MO), introduced the Charlie Kirk Patriot Way Act, which seeks to honor Kirk, who was described by the senators as an “American patriot” who promoted “the founding ideals our great nation, free speech, discussion of ideas, and religious liberty.”

The designation, according to its proponents, would serve as a permanent tribute to Kirk, who they say “inspired countless young Americans to stand up for their beliefs with courage and conviction.”

“Charlie loved our nation and its ideals, and dedicated his entire life to discussing how to make our nation better,” Senator Scott said in a statement. “I’m proud to lead this effort to dedicate a street in our nation’s capital as Charlie Kirk Patriot Way – a place where every American can come to pay tribute to Charlie’s life, and a reminder to us all to continue his legacy.”

The effort follows Senator Scott’s recent success in leading the introduction and passage of a resolution designating Kirk’s birthday, October 14, 2025, as “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk.”

Senator Marsha Blackburn echoed the sentiment, stating, “Charlie Kirk was a patriot whose unwavering dedication to promoting American values and free speech will not be forgotten. Establishing the ‘Charlie Kirk Patriot Way’ would honor his tireless efforts.”

Senator Bernie Moreno highlighted Kirk’s lasting impact, noting that his “assassination ignited a movement,” and expressing pride in joining his colleagues “to ensure that his impact will be felt for generations to come.”

The proposed legislation now awaits consideration in the Senate.
