U.S. Senator Rick Scott joined host Shannon Bream on “FOX News Sunday” to discuss recent meetings between Senate Republicans and President Donald Trump, legislative strategies for the SAVE America Act, and ongoing foreign policy objectives in the Middle East.
During the interview, Scott emphasized that election security remains a core priority for congressional Republicans, noting that the issue was a central pillar of Trump’s national platform. Scott advocated for strict federal voting standards, focusing on mandatory voter identification and verification of U.S. citizenship.
“In the 2024 election, Trump ran on securing the elections… and the President is right,” Scott said. “We’ve got to make sure we have voter ID; we need to make sure you’ve got to be an American citizen.”
Acknowledging the legislative hurdles ahead in Washington, Scott stated that the push for the SAVE America Act represents a direct response to voter demands. He contrasted his proposed standards with the current voting system in California.
“We have to find a way to get [the Save America Act] done. Is it hard? Yeah, but that’s what our voters have sent us up here to do—to go fight for what we believe in,” Scott said. “People want secure elections. It’s ridiculous what’s going on in California. Your vote is clearly being diluted. You’re not being governed by people, you’re being governed by fraud.”
The conversation also turned to international relations, specifically regarding national security threats in the Middle East and the administration’s stance on Tehran. Scott expressed support for the president’s approach, stating it establishes a clear ultimatum regarding nuclear proliferation and state-sponsored regional networks.
“They’ve been killing us for 47 years,” Scott said. “This president is the first one that’s stepped up and said it’s going to end and that they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon… We’re going to give them a chance and if [they don’t comply] we’re going to have to continue to bomb them.”
Scott concluded by emphasizing that the administration’s primary objective is to achieve regional stability and deter adversarial actions without resorting to a large-scale deployment of American military personnel.
“This President doesn’t want to put troops in harm’s way. He doesn’t want to kill people; he has no interest in that,” Scott said. “So, he’s giving [Iran] a chance… they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon, not going to be able to kill Americans, they’re not going to be able to support Hamas, the Houthis, Hezbollah. The President is on the right path.”
