Florida Senate Sets Schedule For Special Session

Florida Senate Elections Vote Legislation

The Florida Senate appears prepared to move quickly during a special legislative session next week about the state’s troubled property-insurance system.

The Senate posted a tentative schedule Monday that shows it going into session at 9 a.m. on May 23 and holding an Appropriations Committee meeting for much of the rest of that day.

The schedule does not show any other committee meetings, as the Senate would hold floor sessions on May 24 and May 25.

If needed, additional floor sessions could be held on May 26 and May 27.

Gov. Ron DeSantis called the special session amid widespread property insurance problems that have included homeowners losing coverage and seeing large rate increases. The House had not posted a tentative schedule for the session as of Monday.
