Florida Slays The Mic: Orlando And Miami Cracking Top 10 Funniest U.S. Cities

Florida is carving out a serious reputation in the national comedy circuit, with two of its major hubs officially ranking among the funniest places in the country.

New data released by the online ticketing platform TicketSource identifies Orlando and Miami as premier destinations for stand-up, placing them 5th and 8th respectively in a new study of the U.S. comedy scene.

The rankings were determined by analyzing several key metrics, including the density of comedy clubs, local search demand for shows, the number of professional comedians born in each city, and the volume of ticketed events currently on the calendar.

Orlando led the Florida contingent, securing the number five spot with a comedy score of 7.02 out of 10. The city boasts 17 comedy clubs per 100,000 people—the highest density of any city in the study—and has seen over 143,000 comedy-related searches. Known as the birthplace of stars like Wayne Brady, Orlando currently hosts 14.3 ticketed comedy events per 100,000 residents.

Miami followed in 8th place with a score of 6.44. While its search demand was lower than Orlando’s at 47,530, Miami stood out for its high volume of active shows, recording 24.8 ticketed events per 100,000 people. The city has also produced 20 notable comedians, including names that have gone on to national prominence.

Nationwide, Boston took the top spot as the funniest city in America. With a score of 8.17, the home of Conan O’Brien and John Krasinski maintains 12 comedy venues per 100,000 people and high audience engagement at clubs like The Wilbur and Improv Asylum. Washington, D.C. followed in second, while San Francisco and Atlanta tied for third.

The research also highlighted specific strengths across different regions:

  • Most Comedians Produced: New York City remains the undisputed heavyweight, producing 228 notable comedians, including Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock.
  • Highest Demand: Chicago leads the nation in interest, with 405,560 comedy-related searches over the past year.
  • Busiest Calendars: San Francisco currently has the most active schedule with 33.2 ticketed events per 100,000 people.
  • Punching Above Weight: St. Louis was noted for producing the most comedians per capita, with roughly seven notable comics born there for every 100,000 residents.

“Some cities are just funnier than others,” the TicketSource report noted. “You can feel it when you’re there. The clubs stay busy with comedy events. The lineups change weekly. And on a random Wednesday night, there’s still a room full of people ready to laugh.”

The data was compiled in January 2026, using figures from the Google Places API, Wikidata, and major ticketing platforms to provide a snapshot of the industry as it stands this year.
