State workers in Florida will enjoy an extended Thanksgiving holiday this year, with state offices closed on Wednesday, Nov. 27, in addition to Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 29. The announcement was made in a memo distributed to state employees on Monday, granting the extra day off as paid administrative leave.

“Employees will be granted the paid day off in the form of administrative leave,” the memo read.

Governor Ron DeSantis has continued the tradition of giving state workers additional time off during major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. While Monday’s announcement focused solely on the Thanksgiving break, it aligns with similar decisions made in previous years to show appreciation for state employees.

The additional day off provides workers with more time to spend with their families and celebrate the holiday season.

State offices will remain closed from Wednesday, Nov. 27, through Friday, Nov. 29, as part of the Thanksgiving holiday schedule. Regular operations will resume on Monday, Dec. 2.

State workers and their families expressed gratitude for the extra day, which helps ease travel and holiday planning. The gesture reflects Florida’s ongoing efforts to support its public workforce during the holiday season.
