“McNut” Meltdown: Teen’s Anger Over McNuggets Leads to Arrest
POLK COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-year-old Polk County man is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening to shoot up a McDonald’s restaurant over an incorrect order that reportedly lacked his Chicken McNuggets.
Dayton Schaffer was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail, charged with making a false report concerning the use of a firearm and misuse of a two-way communication device.
According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, during a July 2 briefing, Schaffer’s frustration escalated significantly after he discovered his McDonald’s order was incorrect. Sheriff Judd colorfully described Schaffer’s subsequent behavior as that of a “McNut.”

Authorities allege that Schaffer called the fast-food establishment three times, using foul language and threatening to open fire on the restaurant.
During the first call, the manager reportedly offered to rectify the order, inviting Schaffer to return to the restaurant. However, Schaffer’s angry tirade allegedly continued across the subsequent calls.
Deputies later responded to Schaffer’s home, where he reportedly admitted to making the calls due to the mistake in his order. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of escalating minor frustrations into serious threats.
