A 17-year-old from Marion County was arrested on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in connection with a shooting that occurred a month prior at a Forest High School homecoming bonfire party. Zachary Sarrach faces a host of charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, after allegedly firing multiple shots at another juvenile during a physical altercation.
The incident occurred late on the night of September 27, 2025, in the 2100 block of SE 52nd Court in Ocala. Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies received a call for service the following day regarding the shooting.
Witnesses at the party were initially unable to identify the suspect, though a physical fight preceded the gunfire. Fortunately, the juvenile victim was not injured.
The case took a turn when deputies located a social media video showing Sarrach wielding a handgun and firing shots.
A still image from the video was shared on MCSO’s social media, which led to a break in the case on October 3, 2025. Ocala Police Department (OPD) Detective Zaino recognized Sarrach from a previous interaction and contacted MCSO Detective Anthony Esquivel of the Intelligence Unit.
Sarrach’s parents also positively identified him after seeing the social media post. Detectives later discovered that Sarrach had deactivated his social media accounts and allegedly expressed intentions to flee to Daytona, Florida.
On October 28, 2025, Sarrach was brought to the MCSO Criminal Investigations Division by his mother and taken into custody. During an interview, he admitted to being armed at the party, being involved in the altercation, and threatening to shoot a group of individuals if they attempted to attack him.
Sarrach, whose date of birth is December 10, 2007, was formally charged with:
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm by a Minor
- Carrying a Concealed Firearm
- Public Discharge of a Firearm
- Use of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
Following his arrest, Sarrach was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
