PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured early Tuesday morning after his patrol vehicle was struck from behind while stopped at a traffic light.
According to an official incident report released by the FHP at 7:09 a.m. on June 23, 2026, the crash occurred on eastbound State Road 54 at the intersection of Northpointe Parkway.
Investigators stated that a male FHP trooper was operating a marked Dodge Ram patrol truck and was completely stopped at a red traffic signal. At the same time, a Buick sedan driven by an 18-year-old woman from Hudson was traveling eastbound on State Road 54.
The driver of the Buick failed to stop as she approached the intersection, resulting in a direct rear-end collision with the parked FHP vehicle.
The trooper sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the impact. Emergency medical services transported him to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. The 18-year-old driver of the Buick suffered only minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.
The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the identities of either individual involved, and the report did not specify if any citations or charges are pending.
