MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) announced the arrest of a Seminole woman on Friday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred earlier this week in Marion County.

Somer Lynn Fox, 32, of Seminole, Florida, was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with Failing to Stop/Remain at the Scene of a Crash Involving Death.

The deadly incident took place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, when a pedestrian was walking north across the westbound lanes of State Road 200 at the intersection of SW 60 Street. According to the FHP report, the pedestrian was pushing a cart of groceries and was in a dark area with no lighting.

A van was traveling west on SR-200 in the right lane when it struck the pedestrian with its front section. The driver of the van, now identified as Fox, allegedly failed to stop and remained on the scene, continuing west on SR-200 and leaving the site of the crash. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators had been searching for a dark-colored, full-sized van with a topper, noting it would likely have front-end damage to the grille area.

The westbound lanes of State Road 200 were temporarily closed for investigation following the crash.
