A 35-year-old Florida woman was arrested on Wednesday, following an investigation into a sophisticated fraud scheme targeting a Publix grocery store. Yirelys Dominguez, from Hialeah, Florida, is facing charges for allegedly defrauding the Publix store in Islamorada of $8,364 in meat and seafood in March 2025.
Dominguez has been formally charged with grand theft and making a false report/knowingly giving false information to a law enforcement officer. Her arrest by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office signifies a breakthrough for investigators working to dismantle the alleged fraud ring.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation into the criminal enterprise is still active and ongoing.
Given the scope of the alleged fraud, law enforcement officials believe that more arrests may be pending as they continue to follow leads related to the extensive use of stolen credit cards at the location.
