A Florida woman is facing charges of aggravated battery after allegedly throwing a knife at her boyfriend’s head during an argument sparked by a $5 mobile payment he made to another woman.
Danielle Banks, 34, reportedly found the transaction on her boyfriend’s phone last Thursday, leading to a confrontation that escalated to violence.
According to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Banks became “upset,” verbally abused her boyfriend, struck him multiple times, and then retrieved a knife from the kitchen. She allegedly threw the knife “overhand” at his head, cutting him in the face.
The victim called 911, reporting he had been “stabbed in the face.” Banks reportedly fled the Marathon home in her car but was soon located and detained by deputies. During questioning, she initially claimed a “shard” from a plate she threw in the sink must have caused the injury.
Banks was booked into the Monroe County Jail on a $75,000 bond, charged with aggravated battery and resisting arrest without violence.
The boyfriend, who was treated at the scene, declined to provide a written statement and packed up his belongings to leave. Banks is scheduled for arraignment on Nov. 21.
