Repeat Offender Faces Decades in Prison for Allegedly Orchestrating Large-Scale Shoplifting Ring
A notorious “career criminal” who allegedly pilfered more than $20,000 worth of merchandise from South Florida retailers is now facing justice. Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution has charged Zatorya Daniels with two counts of organized retail theft, potentially bringing an end to a spree that spanned multiple counties.
“This career criminal committed at least 16 thefts, stealing more than $20,000 worth of items in South Florida,” stated Attorney General James Uthmeier. “Thanks to the diligent efforts of Florida law enforcement, her crime spree is over, and our Statewide Prosecutors will ensure she stays behind bars where she belongs.”

An extensive investigation by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office revealed Daniels’ alleged modus operandi: she would enter stores, primarily Ulta Beauty and Walgreens, with accomplices, discreetly place items into her handbag, and then exit without paying. Authorities say she stole a staggering 276 items valued at $21,066.
Daniels’ criminal history is extensive, with over 20 prior theft convictions, making her a familiar face to law enforcement. Her alleged string of thefts stretched across St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, and Broward counties.

Currently, Daniels is in custody on other charges, and these new organized retail theft charges have been added to her existing legal woes. If convicted, she could face up to 30 years in prison. Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Chris Olowin will be handling the case.
