A Florida woman has entered an open plea of no contest to the court in the case charging her with the second-degree murder of her roommate.
Tracey Lee Stanley, 63, Inverness, appeared before Judge Joel D. Fritton earlier this morning and entered the plea, opting to forgo a full trial. Stanley is charged in connection with the death of her roommate, 72-year-old Andrea Kathleen Day.
Following a brief discussion with her attorney, Stanley entered the open plea. She is now scheduled to appear for her sentencing hearing on January 9, 2026.

The case against Stanley began on July 20, 2024, when Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies responded to a call regarding a deceased person at 6033 East Rector Street in Inverness, FL.
Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, Ms. Day, inside the residence. Authorities stated she had “clearly been deceased for a while” and was found wrapped in a tarp.
Stanley, who was Day’s roommate, was subsequently questioned by CCSO’s Major Crimes Detectives and later arrested in connection with the death.
Assistant State Attorney Blake Shore is prosecuting the case.
