Florida lottery fans have a fresh reason to check their tickets before the sun even sets on drawing night. Starting today, January 30, 2026, the Florida Lottery is rolling out a major overhaul to its popular EZmatch feature, marking the first time the prize structure has seen a significant update since 2008.

The changes aren’t just cosmetic; they represent a serious shift in how the state handles instant payouts for FANTASY 5 and FLORIDA LOTTO players.

For the uninitiated, EZmatch is a $1 add-on that allows players to win cash on the spot by matching their draw numbers to a set of “EZmatch” numbers printed right on the ticket.

While the $500 top prize remains the ultimate goal, the floor for winnings has officially been raised. The old minimum prize is a thing of the past, replaced by a new $3 baseline. To keep the momentum going, officials have also introduced two brand-new prize tiers at $25 and $40, filling in the gaps that previously existed in the payout ladder.

Perhaps the most enticing part of this refresh is the math behind the scenes. The lottery has significantly shortened the odds for some of its mid-tier prizes.

For example, the chances of hitting a $5 winner have plummeted from 1-in-300 to a much more accessible 1-in-52.50. Even the $100 prize saw a slight bump in probability. When you look at the big picture, the overall prize payout percentage has jumped from 68.05% to nearly 78%, meaning more of the money spent on these tickets is heading straight back into players’ pockets.

Since it first hit the scene in 2006, EZmatch has been a powerhouse for the Florida Lottery, churning out over 128 million winning tickets.

On any given day, about 18,000 people across the Sunshine State walk away with an instant prize, totaling roughly $62,000 in daily payouts. By modernizing the game for 2026, the Lottery is clearly betting that these better odds and higher minimums will convince both veteran players and curious newcomers that the extra dollar is well worth the spend.
