The Sunshine State is seeing a major shift in how its politicians vote, according to a new report released today in Washington. The Christian Employers Alliance (CEA) just dropped its 2026 Florida Edition of the Biblical Business Index, and the numbers show that lawmakers across the board are aligning more closely with faith-based and limited-government policy positions.
Between the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years, Florida’s legislature saw a marked increase in voting patterns that the CEA defines as biblically aligned. The House saw its alignment jump from 71.34% to 80.97%, while the Senate rose from 73.87% to 82.11%.
Perhaps the most unexpected data point in the study involves the state’s Democratic Party. According to the CEA, House Democrats more than doubled their alignment, moving from 30% to 61%.
In the Senate, Democratic votes nearly tripled in their alignment with the index, climbing from 18% to 49%. Republican lawmakers also saw gains, with both chambers moving from an 80% or 81% baseline up to 87%.

“This past year, Florida lawmakers moved meaningfully closer to policies grounded in biblical values and limited-government principles, and that has real-world consequences for employers, families, and communities,” said Margaret Iuculano, President of the Christian Employers Alliance. “Florida’s improved alignment sends a clear message that the state is open for business, open for opportunity, and committed to protecting the freedom to operate according to conscience.”
The study didn’t just look at averages; it tracked over 4,000 individual votes cast by the 160 members of the Florida Legislature. The research team used a methodology based on Scripture and Judeo-Christian social principles to vet the legislation.
The results put Florida ahead of several other traditionally conservative states.
Over two-thirds of Florida’s lawmakers—108 in total—earned the “Defender of Biblical Business Award” for voting with the biblically-based position at least 80% of the time. For comparison, the CEA noted that only about a third of lawmakers in Texas and Oklahoma reached that same threshold.
The full index, which includes specific rankings for every lawmaker and a breakdown of the major bills analyzed, was made available to the public following the announcement.
