A federal appeals court will hear arguments on January 15th in a case challenging Florida’s restrictions on gender-affirming care for transgender individuals.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will review a lawsuit filed by attorneys representing a transgender man and parents of transgender children. These restrictions, signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2023, limit access to puberty blockers and hormone therapy for minors and impose restrictions on adult treatments.

U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle previously blocked the law, citing its discriminatory nature and potential harm to transgender individuals. However, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals granted a stay, allowing the restrictions to remain in effect while the legal battle continues.
The case has sparked significant debate, with supporters of the law arguing that it protects minors from irreversible medical treatments. Opponents contend that the restrictions are discriminatory and harmful, limiting access to necessary care for transgender individuals.
