Recreational anglers are reminded that the harvest season for flounder in Florida state and federal waters is set to close on October 15 and will remain closed through the end of November. The season will reopen on December 1.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has established this annual closure to protect flounder during a crucial period. The two-month closure, from October 15 to November 30, coincides with the formation of pre-spawning aggregations of flounder.

Anglers are advised to adhere to the closure dates. All recreational harvest of flounder is prohibited during the closed period.
For full details on flounder regulations, including size and bag limits when the season is open, anglers are encouraged to visit the FWC’s website at MyFWC.com/Marine, navigate to “Recreational Regulations,” and select “Flounder.”
