Foggy Mornings And Near-Record Heat: Tampa Bay Set For 25-MPH Weekend Shakeup

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay area is settling into a stretch of warm, bright weather, though local drivers should keep an eye on the windshield for early morning haze.

Thursday kicks off the trend with mostly sunny skies and a high near 85 degrees, accompanied by a gentle breeze from the east-southeast. As the sun dips tonight, temperatures will fall to around 63 degrees, with patchy fog expected to develop after 4 a.m.

Friday and Saturday are shaping up to be the warmest days of the week, with both afternoons projected to hit 87 degrees.

The National Weather Service indicates that patchy fog will likely linger until about 10 a.m. on both mornings, then give way to clear, sunny skies.

While Friday remains relatively calm, Saturday will bring a shift in energy. By Saturday afternoon, north-northeast winds could gust up to 18 mph, intensifying Saturday night with gusts reaching 25 mph and a low of 64 degrees.

The transition into Sunday introduces the first real change in the pattern. The high will drop to a cooler 80 degrees under partly sunny skies, and there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms popping up after 2 p.m.

Breezy conditions will persist throughout the day, with northeast winds gusting to 24 mph before easing slightly on Sunday night.

Looking toward the start of the work week, the heat returns quickly. Monday and Tuesday are forecast to be mostly sunny with highs of 84 and 86 degrees, respectively.

By Wednesday, the region faces another 20 percent chance of rain, though temperatures will remain steady with a projected high of 86 degrees. Throughout the week, overnight lows are expected to stay consistent, hovering right around 61 degrees.
