TAMPA, Fla. – Weather patterns in Tampa are shifting as the region prepares for a stretch of unusually warm temperatures followed by a sharp reality check early next week.

According to the latest data, today will remain sunny with a high of 78°F and a light southwest breeze at 10 mph. However, the calm conditions are set to bring a thick blanket of patchy fog starting after 11 p.m. tonight, with overnight lows dipping to around 62°F.

The fog is expected to be a recurring theme for the remainder of the work week. Forecasters indicate that visibility may be limited before 10 a.m. on Thursday, though the clouds will eventually break to reveal a high of 82°F.

This warming trend continues through Friday and Saturday, with afternoon highs climbing to 85°F—well above average for mid-February. Each night during this stretch is expected to see the return of fog after 10 p.m., with consistent lows in the low 60s.

A significant shift in the atmosphere arrives on Sunday. A 40 percent chance of showers is in the forecast as a cold front moves through the area. While the day will start with patchy fog and reach a high of 77°F, west-northwest winds will pick up, gusting as high as 20 mph. This front will usher in a dramatic temperature drop; Sunday night’s low is projected to plummet to 43°F.

The early part of next week will look and feel much different.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to be clear and sunny, but daytime highs will struggle to move past 61°F and 64°F, respectively. Monday night will be particularly chilly, with a forecast low of 36°F, marking the coldest point in the current seven-day outlook.
